CREATIVE FAITH

Brunswick Church’s creative faith activities bring to life our understanding that faith involves an active, imaginative, and even artistic approach to life as we mirror God’s own creative nature. As we explore fun ways to create, we express ourselves in response to God and the life he has given us. In a very personal way, we continue God’s creative redemption of the world. In our workshops, you will find opportunities to –

    • Move beyond a passive Christian belief to actively ignite your imagination and uncover and use your talents
    • Find and nurture the creative gifts that comes from God’s creative nature
    • Foster a creative worldview that can affect every area of your life

Intentional WORDS of Lent

You might not expect creativity and spiritual practice to go hand in hand, but at Brunswick Church, they do. We suggest creative ways to explore scripture and re-imagine trusted spiritual practices in fresh ways. Intentional Lent invites you to renew your faith and deepen your relationship with God.

This year, Intentional Lent will focus on the WORDS of Lent, exploring simple, meaningful ways to live them out. By approaching these practices with fresh eyes, each person is encouraged to create a gentle, doable Lenten rhythm that refreshes their connection with God.

The words FASTING, PRAYER, REPENTANCE, ALMSGIVING, and SACRIFICE represent core practices of Lent. How can we discover simple, meaningful ways to try to implement them into our own lives? In Scripture, fasting often means abstaining from food, but it can also mean stepping away from anything that takes up more space, attention, or influence than you intend—such as screens, social media, constant noise, or certain habits.

This Lent, you might choose to set aside your phone at bedtime and use that time for prayer. You could dedicate your fast to a spiritual purpose: deep personal reflection, seeking God’s direction, or praying intentionally for a friend or family member in need.

As Lent approaches, ask God to give you a clear focus. We hope that, by approaching these practices in fresh ways, each person can create a simple, doable Lenten rhythm that renews and deepens their connection with God. Join us after Worship on Sunday, February 15, and the following Sundays of Lent for meaningful conversation and to encourage each other on this journey.

Sunday Gatherings

Everyone is invited to gather in the Worship Center after worship and fellowship time for a meaningful conversation. We’ll explore key Lenten practices, hear personal stories about how they’ve been lived out, and reflect together as we prepare to enter Lent with fresh purpose and a spirit of growth and renewal.

Sunday Gathering Schedule:   Fasting – February 15,  Prayer – February 22,  Repentance – March 8, Almsgiving – March 15, Sacrifice – March 22

Tuesday Soup and Service Suppers

Join us for weekly Soup and Services Suppers throughout Lent. Each Tuesday, starting February 24, we will gather in the Commons to share a simple meal of soup and bread. After we eat, we will work together on an easy service project to support local people or ministries. The soup supper and service project activities will run from 5:30 – 7 pm.

Lenten Soup and Service Supper Schedule: February 24, March 3, 10, 17, 24

Creative Faith Project – The Road to Easter

Palm Sunday, March 29 – Putting together The Road to Easter: A Holy Week Countdown

Take part in a creative, hands-on way to experience Holy Week. Together, we’ll build a collection of simple objects that tell the story of what happened on the road to Easter. These will be arranged on a board, and each day you’ll move Jesus one step forward as you read a short Gospel passage and reflect on that day’s events leading up to the Resurrection. It’s a beautiful way to walk through the story. It’s fun and meaningful for children, and deeply reflective for adults too. (One per household.)
