CREATIVE FAITH

What is Lent? The word “Lent” comes from the Old English word “lengten,” which simply means “spring” — when the days lengthen and new life springs forth. It is a time in which we anticipate the victory of the light and life of Christ over the darkness of sin and death. It is, to borrow a phrase from C.S. Lewis, a season of a kind of “happiness and wonder that makes you serious.” Lent invites us to make our hearts ready for remembering Jesus’ death and resurrection.

You can read the devotional online each day or have it sent conveniently to your email each morning during Lent.

One Prayer a Day – Prayer Jar

This prayer-focused devotional is very doable for all ages!

Print out these 40 simple prayer prompts and cut them into 40 slips Then put them into a small jar or glass and you are ready to go! Place it on your dining table or desk– somewhere you will see it daily. Each day, pick one prompt and take a moment to pray. This simple activity is great for individuals and families to start a daily prayer practice during Lent.  Prayer Jars are available in the Commons on the Lent Resources Table on March 2.

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing, and perfect will.” – Romans 12:2

– A New Approach to Lent (and a Community Art Project!)

Join us on Sundays after Worship, March 2 – April 6

Intentional Lent is a weekly Lenten practice designed to help nurture our mind, body, and spirit. What we choose to focus our minds on affects every aspect of our well-being.

Each week we will provide the following:

  • A selected scripture to reflect on.

  • Suggested actions or “intentions” to practice each week to help us nurture and renew our thinking.

  • We will gather after worship and fellowship time on Sundays throughout Lent, beginning March 2, to share our experiences of intentional practices.

  • The opportunity for everyone on ANY Sunday to contribute to a communal Artwork.

The “Pray” Wall – A wall displaying visual expressions of Prayer

The wall in the back entrance hallway to the Church features a collection of visual representations of prayer. In the center, 2 framed pieces highlight Jeremiah 29:12   “Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.”
