June 13, 2018

This week, we continue to prepare for Vacation Bible School by continuing a series Rescued by Jesus. We will look at how we are to serve and be not only Jesus but to save the people of Christ on earth. Please pray this prayer with me this week about what it means to belong to Christ by the great author Anonymous:

Oh loving Lord Christ, so eager to die that I might live,
I am no longer my own, but yours.
Put me to what you will, rank me with whom you will;
Put me to doing; put me to suffering;
Let me be employed for you, or laid aside for you;
Exalted for you, or brought low for you;
Let me be full, let me be empty;
Let me have all things; let me have nothing.
I freely and with my whole heart yield all things to your will and direction.
And now, oh glorious and blessed God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit,
You are mine and I am yours. Let this be for eternity, I pray.
Amen.

New look for brunswickchurch.org

As you may have heard, our new website is available to you. As with anything new, we will be tweaking and updating things as we determine what will best serve those who use the site. In last week’s sermon, Pastor Henry extended the invitation to the congregation to share your feedback with us. We appreciate your suggestions and will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

This Thursday, June 14th at 6pm, we will be holding our monthly Thursday Potluck in the Worship Arts Studio. The theme of this month’s feast is traditional potluck. Bring your family favorite to share if you are able. We look forward to a time of food, fellowship, and fantastic conversation. Everyone is welcome. See you there!

Last summer, a group from Brunswick Church attended the Global Leadership Summit and walked away with fresh knowledge, insight, and ideas as to how we can better serve our Lord, our community and ourselves. This annual summit is being held Thursday, August 9 & Friday, August 10 at Grace Fellowship in Halfmoon. The cost is currently $209 per person and there are discounts available for students, teachers, and veterans. Please contact Office Manager Colleen Lais if you are interested in going.

Pastoral Nominating Team

This week in worship, we will hear from the team, that has been hard at work discerning our path toward extending a call to an associate pastor in the future. We were blessed with Pastor Elizabeth, so their work is cut out for them, but this team is up for the challenge. We will receive updates as their work progresses, and there is info to share. In the meantime, keep these team members in your prayers, for wisdom and vision.

Chair Matt Clark, Jackie Borland, Gayle Driggers, Lisa Jeschke, Lisa Judd, Tony Kaddo, and Rich Scott.

NEW Class on Sunday, June 24th, at 10:00am

Bill Henderson will be leading a one-hour class on “Getting to Know YOUR Bible“. Most people own at least one copy of the Bible, but most have never had their own Bible’s tools and helps explained. In fact, we often don’t use them. The aim of this class is to help you understand YOUR Bible. We will also look at study bibles, reference bibles, and specialty bibles so you can understand the resources each can offer. And we will see how electronic/computer-based bibles can also enhance your Bible reading. Please bring YOUR bible with you to class (including your computer-based bible!). The class will be held in the downstairs classroom in the old sanctuary wing.

Dear Loved Ones,

We are bubbling over with joy because of what the Lord is doing.  I don’t expect you to remember the details, but I do ask you to praise/pray/read through this email.

We are trying something new this June.  Instead of offering private English classes, we are offering a free Bible study in English on Mondays and Wednesdays.  We are thankful for such a positive response.  Our first class was last Monday with 10 women and 6 children attending.  Last Wednesday there were 7 women and 6 children.  But one of the most exciting things is two of the ladies attended the Japanese worship service on Sunday and one of them even brought her husband.  Praise the Lord!!!  Yesterday 11 women and 8 children attended the Bible study in English.  One of those ladies told us that she and her three children will attend the worship service this coming Sunday.

I hope what God is doing is as much of an encouragement to you as it is to us.

  • Please pray that each one of these ladies will choose to attend on Sundays.
  • Please pray even more new ladies will attend the Bible study.
  • Please pray for an unspoken request; that God will give definite direction.
Thank you!

Your Hands to the Japanese and the Children,

Gary, for Beth and me

From our counters:  If you are using an envelope, please write your number (even better – also include your name!) on the envelope. We appreciate this, especially with cash donations. If you are writing a check, we ask that you also include the number on the memo line. These small steps help to ensure accurate recording.

Online giving can help support your intentions to maintain your commitment to serve others in our giving, even when life gets busy! Click here to learn more!

Important information for those who choose to give online. The system only allows donations to be set up for a specific period of time. Please be aware that once that time ends the donations will stop without notification. Some of our members have found that their tithing ended without their knowing. It is important to always review your scheduled donations and update the information with any changes in bank or credit card information. If you have any questions, contact Bob Schmidt at business@brunswickchurch.org.
