Focus on Worship

April 18, 2018

The Rest of the Story radio program done by Paul Harvey that told stories that were little-known or forgotten. Our new series looks at things we take for granted but we have not looked closely at about what it means to be the church. This week we focus on what it means to worship. One aspect of worship is our conversation with God, so please talk with God with me:

Let me not forget my prayers as I go out into the world. Holy Spirit, be with me,and let me praise you and remember you in every action and thought, for the entire day long. In Christ’s name I ask this.

May 3, 2018, Brunswick Church Takes Prayer to the Community!

On Thursday, May 3rd, Brunswick Church will be greeting our motoring neighbors and lifting them up in prayer in our first ever “Prayer to Go” event. From 7 am to 7 pm, we will invite passing motorists to swing through our “prayer drive-thru” and allow us to pray with them or for them. Whether it’s offering God praise for recent blessings or asking for a needed miracle, we look forward to sharing Christ’s light and love with our neighbors. We’ll offer each driver a home-baked snack, a coffee to go, and a simple, heartfelt prayer for their needs and joys. And, we’ll invite them to visit Brunswick Church.
We can use lots of help. We’re signing up volunteers to bake, serve coffee, hold signs and, of course, to offer to pray simply and briefly with those who pass by. And, we’re asking also that you pray for this to be a ministry that glorifies God and blesses our community. May God be at work even now, preparing the hearts of those who need our prayers, and may we grow deeper in faith as we answer His call to serve.

Pastoral Nominating Team

The team is hard at work discerning our path toward extending a call to an associate pastor in the future. We were blessed with Pastor Elizabeth, so their work is cut out for them, but this team is up for the challenge. We will receive updates as their work progresses, and there is info to share. In the meantime, keep these team members in your prayers, for wisdom and vision.

Chair Matt Clark, Jackin Borland, Gail Driggers, Lisa Jescke, Lisa Judd, Elder Tony Kaddo, and Rich Scott.

Deuteronomy – Moses’ Sermons to God’s People

Jesus’ favorite Old Testament book is Deuteronomy, based on the number of times He quotes it. This is no dry or dusty book of the law; instead it is filled with a genuine pastoral care for God’s people. It clearly shows the love and faithfulness of the Lord God to His people. As you study Deuteronomy, you will come to better understand God’s nature (who He is) and his purpose in salvation. Moreover you will see how important the Old Testament is to guide us in right living today. Sunday at 10:00am in the basement education room just down the stairs from the church office. Bill Henderson is the teacher.

If you are free Monday evenings, take an hour to read Romans beginning to end and pray about joining this group of wonderful Christian women. The Holy Spirit is our leader. Blood–necessary for life–healthy people have a little more than they need–and it is needed by those with chronic illnesses, or those having surgery–every day of the year.  Patients across the US need an average of 44,000 units of blood every day of the year.  That’s about 16 million donations needed for transfusion to 5 million patients every year.

Think your donation does not matter? These 16 million donations are being given one unit at a time by citizens like you and me.  Please consider joining us April 21between 9 AM and 2 PM to help meet this critical need, by donating blood, helping with registration or at the canteen.

For more information or to sign up online to donate, got to or call 1-800-733-2767.  There will also be a signup sheet in the Commons beginning in April.

If you are writing a check, we ask that you also include the number on the memo line. These small steps help to ensure accurate recording.

Important information for those who choose to give online. The system only allows donations to be set up for a specific period of time. Please be aware that once that time ends the donations will stop without notification. Some of our members have found that their tithing ended without their knowing. It is important to always review your scheduled donations and update the information with any changes in bank or credit card information. If you have any questions, contact Bob Schmidt at
