A message from the Reopening Group of Brunswick Church

Dear Friends:

While our county has reached phase 4 in the state’s reopening strategy, we continue to discern the safest time and manner to open our facility for worship and meetings on-site. We look forward to the day when we are able to gather together in person; yet we remain committed to ensuring great care and caution accompany any decision to do so.

As we have learned from other churches around the world—particularly those congregations who did not close, or those who reopened early—this decision should not be made quickly. Even the most careful congregations (those who socially distanced, used masks and hand sanitizer, cleaned their facility) experienced COVID-19 infections, and even death, after gathering together. Also noteworthy are those churches who established a timeline to reopen, only to reverse course, opting to remain closed indefinitely, due to the spike in cases nationwide—whether in their vicinity or not.

We are mindful of their choices, and the lessons they have learned. We are also aware that we are a unique congregation in a unique place. And so, as we continue our work, we would like to hear from you. What you have felt, how you have participated, the ways in which you have grown deeper spiritually. To that end, we have developed a survey we would like you to complete, covering several sections: worship, reopening requirements, small groups, committees and ministries, and general feedback.

Each week for the next month, in the Friday BEB we will provide a link to an online survey. If you are more comfortable providing written responses, you may choose to complete the entire survey via a PDF. Please click on the link to download, print, complete, and return to the church. The deadline for returning the written survey is Friday, August 14, 2020.

After we receive your responses, we will compile them and report to you what we have learned about you, and about ourselves.

Thank you for your participation in our survey! Your responses will help us plan for the future reopening of our building for worship and onsite meetings.
