How to Handle Conflict

July 25, 2018

This week, we look at how we can be transformed. We are taught in Sunday School that God helps us in our troubles, but why do we need to suffer? Join us this Sunday. Please pray this prayer with me this week:

O Thou who art my quietness, my deep repose,
My rest from strife of tongues, my holy hill,
Fair is Thy pavilion, where I hold me still.
Back let them fall from me, my clamorous foes,
Confusions multiplied;
From crowding things of sense I flee, in Thee I hide.
Until this tyranny be overpast,
Thy hand will hold me fast;
What though the tumult of the storm increase,
Grant to Thy servant strength, O Lord, and bless with peace.

Last week’s sermon video

Last summer, a group from Brunswick Church attended the Global Leadership Summit and walked away with fresh knowledge, insight, and ideas as to how we can better serve our Lord, our community and ourselves. This annual summit is being held Thursday, August 9 & Friday, August 10 at Grace Fellowship in Halfmoon. The cost is currently $209 per person and there are discounts available for students, teachers, and veterans. Please contact Office Manager Colleen Lais if you are interested in going.

Pastoral Nominating Team

Last week in worship, we heard from the team, that has been hard at work discerning our path toward extending a call to an associate pastor in the future. We were blessed with Pastor Elizabeth, so their work is cut out for them, but this team is up for the challenge. We will receive updates as their work progresses, and there is info to share. In the meantime, keep these team members in your prayers, for wisdom and vision.

Chair Matt Clark, Jackie Borland, Gayle Driggers, Lisa Jeschke, Lisa Judd, Tony Kaddo, and Rich Scott.

Men interested in joining a study?
Join us Monday evenings at 7 pm
The Monday night Men’s Bible Study group is currently studying The Reason for God Video Series by Tim Keller. All men are welcome. For more information, contact Will Asher at 518-279-9491. We will be meeting every Monday from 7 pm to 8:30 pm in the downstairs community room below the Sanctuary.

Last year the deacons distributed over 200 backpacks filled with school supplies to area children in need. We are once again distributing backpacks for the upcoming school year.  We are in need of donated supplies.  Please visit the table in the commons and take a tag and purchase the supplies listed.

Return them to the table by August 5th.  Monetary donations are also welcome and appreciated. Please specify “backpack project” on your check.  Distribution will take place on Saturday, August 18th, from 9:30-11 in the church commons. Thank you for your generous support of this ministry.

A few weeks ago we made note of Libby Little’s retirement and opportunities to serve international/refugee families in the Albany area. An associated article, The World at our Doorstep – Welcoming the Stranger, has recently been posted on the Albany Presbytery blog. Check it out for more information on how you can participate in missions right in our neighborhoods!

From our counters:  If you are using an envelope, please write your number (even better – also include your name!) on the envelope. We appreciate this, especially with cash donations. If you are writing a check, we ask that you also include the number on the memo line. These small steps help to ensure accurate recording.

Online giving can help support your intentions to maintain your commitment to serve others in our giving, even when life gets busy! Click here to learn more!

Important information for those who choose to give online. The system only allows donations to be set up for a specific period of time. Please be aware that once that time ends the donations will stop without notification. Some of our members have found that their tithing ended without their knowing. It is important to always review your scheduled donations and update the information with any changes in bank or credit card information. If you have any questions, contact Bob Schmidt at
