Finding Jesus

June 20, 2018

This week, we continue to prepare for Vacation Bible School by continuing a series Rescued by Jesus. We will look at how we are called to continue to grow and learn so we can do the work of God. Please pray this prayer with me this week from some of the earliest Christians:

I give you thanks Holy Father, for your holy name which you have caused to dwell in my heart, and for the knowledge and faith and immortality which you have made known to me through Jesus your servant;
to you be the glory forever.
You, almighty Master, created all things for your name’s sake, and gave food and drink to men to enjoy, that they might give you thanks; but to me you have graciously given spiritual food and drink, and eternal life through your servant Jesus. Above all I give thanks because you are mighty; to you be the glory forever.
Remember your church, Lord, to deliver it from all evil and to make it perfect in your love; and gather it, the one that has been sanctified, from the four winds into your kingdom, which you have prepared for it;
for yours is the glory forever.
May grace come, and may this world pass away. Hosanna to the God of David. If anyone is holy, let him come; if anyone is not, let him repent.
Come, oh Lord! Amen.

Last summer, a group from Brunswick Church attended the Global Leadership Summit and walked away with fresh knowledge, insight, and ideas as to how we can better serve our Lord, our community and ourselves. This annual summit is being held Thursday, August 9 & Friday, August 10 at Grace Fellowship in Halfmoon. The cost is currently $209 per person and there are discounts available for students, teachers, and veterans. Please contact Office Manager Colleen Lais if you are interested in going.

Pastoral Nominating Team

Last week in worship, we heard from the team, that has been hard at work discerning our path toward extending a call to an associate pastor in the future. We were blessed with Pastor Elizabeth, so their work is cut out for them, but this team is up for the challenge. We will receive updates as their work progresses, and there is info to share. In the meantime, keep these team members in your prayers, for wisdom and vision.

NEW Class on Sunday, June 24th, at 10:00am

Bill Henderson will be leading a one-hour class on “Getting to Know YOUR Bible“. Most people own at least one copy of the Bible, but most have never had their own Bible’s tools and helps explained. In fact, we often don’t use them. The aim of this class is to help you understand YOUR Bible. We will also look at study bibles, reference bibles, and specialty bibles so you can understand the resources each can offer. And we will see how electronic/computer-based bibles can also enhance your Bible reading. Please bring YOUR bible with you to class (including your computer-based bible!). The class will be held in the downstairs classroom in the old sanctuary wing.

Men interested in joining a study?
Join us Monday evenings at 7 pm
The Monday night Men’s Bible Study group is currently studying Galatians. All men are welcome. For more information, contact Will Asher at 518-279-9491. We will be meeting every Monday from 7 pm to 8:30 pm in the downstairs community room below the Sanctuary.

We celebrate with Libby Little, long-term missions partner with InterServe, on her “retirement” at the end of this month. Libby plans to spend time with her family as well as to continue working with Afghani refugees in Albany on a volunteer basis.
For more information, feel free to contact Libby at Additional information regarding volunteer opportunities and services for refugees in the Capital District can be found on the Refugee and Immigrant Support Services of Emmaus website, the local US Committee for Refugees and Immigrants, and the Capital Region Resources for Refugees page.

From our counters:  If you are using an envelope, please write your number (even better – also include your name!) on the envelope. We appreciate this, especially with cash donations. If you are writing a check, we ask that you also include the number on the memo line. These small steps help to ensure accurate recording.

Online giving can help support your intentions to maintain your commitment to serve others in our giving, even when life gets busy! Click here to learn more!

Important information for those who choose to give online. The system only allows donations to be set up for a specific period of time. Please be aware that once that time ends the donations will stop without notification. Some of our members have found that their tithing ended without their knowing. It is important to always review your scheduled donations and update the information with any changes in bank or credit card information. If you have any questions, contact Bob Schmidt at
